The 'Future' Of Cloud Computing ...

Cloud Computing: Initially people would (experimenting) using cloud computing for storage, sharing and stuff. Eventually we will use it for work, in the truest collaborative sense.

Take a look at the data:

Trend With Open Source Software 2009

Some interesting insight about Open Source trend 2009:

Most open source vendors have tweaked their business models to include some kind of additional value only available as part of a subscription.

Every CTO that spoke up (and it was a very open forum) said that they are happy to pay for proprietary extensions to open-source software, and criticized pure-play open-source vendors for not providing an obvious, compelling reason to pay: proprietary bits. (One actually said that we have built a great financial model...for SIs, not for ourselves.)

Typically we now see an "open core" freely available with "exclusive" or proprietary features only available when you pay. If you are trying to build a commercial business on top of an open source project, this is likely the right answer.

Nokia Smart Phones Are Getting 'Smarter' !!

Nokia_Smart_Phones_Are_Getting.zip (1131 KB)

Nokia new smart-phone's design and form-factor seems getting increasingly perfect everyday.
Their product pricing is totally awesome too!

Thin Form Factor, comfortable 'tactile' keyboard, future touch capability, and pen draw/annotation capability in the future ?... these are things that I truly believe would resemble a 'perfect smartphone'.

Nokia seems to be on the right track to make such perfect 'smartphone' happen.

We'll see what the Android camp would soon come up with, ... after their great initial G1 appearance.
Would there be an Android based Samsung and LG coming up soon, in the marketplace?

Truly fascinating possibility.

We will see.

Gartner: iPhone Sales WW Exceed Windows Mobile Sales WW For The First Time!

Latest news according to Gartner and Endgadget:

- Nokia maintaining its numero uno status with 42.4% market share, though it did recognize a rare decline in sales of 3% year-on-year.
- RIM, its BlackBerry phone sales increased an amazing 81.7% in Q3.
- Finally, "for the first time (meaning in this quarter), iPhone sales exceeded sales of Microsoft Windows Mobile devices worldwide and in North America,"
- and beyond that, "open-source initiatives like Android and Symbian Foundation [are set to] challenge Windows Mobile's licensing model in the short-term."

It is proven again and again that Mr. Ball*** can not just 'pooh pooh' the competition like he did couple of months ago (see: to see how bad and unrealistic Mr. Ball** 'pooh pooh act' was!). He need to answer with real innovation in hand.
Consumer truly knows products that increasingly getting 'complicated', ineffective, retarded, 'arrogant' and 'sucks', ... versus products that truly passionate and great.

'YUCK'-HOO ??

Would the inspiring YaHoo become a boring 'YuckHoo' once (one day) it is being swallowed by Microsoft ??

Remain to be seen.

I wonder how much more disaster Mr. Ball**r can do to the innovative world of computing?

The danger of a 'lauzy' leader who-happen-to-come-to-huge-massive-power-that-they-can-not-greatly-handle towards creation of greater cause that affect (and influence) society for the better.

The Tale Of The Dinosaur

Long long time ago, big huge powerful dinosaurs live big around the earth and dominate the land to each other.
Meanwhile, plants are just small, spread everywhere, being shallow, 'puny' and tiny.

When sudden climate change come, the big heavy less adaptable dinosaur dies.
Nobody believe it can happen, but it dies.
The big huge powerful dominating dinosaur extinct.

Meanwhile, the adaptive plants lives on.

  • Is Microsoft & its Closed-Computing concept (aka 'everything only run on Windows') the gigantic dinosaur of our software industry today?
  • Is the internet & open connectivity the 'meteoric changes' that changes the total climate of the industry?
  • Is OpenComputing (aka 'everything runs anywhere anytime on any device and any platform') is the flexible adaptive future-ready plants that spread and seed around?

We'll see.

As Darwin says: "Only the most adaptive survive".
