Sony Vaio P Series will be (re)-launched using Windows XP as the operating system!

After a series of dissapointment with its Vista performance, it was announced that Sony Vaio P Series soon to be (re)-launched in Japan with Windows XP Home edition as the chosen operating system.

I personally think this is great and excellent. My personal observation: quite many netbook has suffering performance due to using Vista as their default operating system.

Adopting Windows XP I think is a better option (at least for now). XP is fast, practical and meet most consumer's needs and requirement. I love XP for its speed and practicality. In the future, when Windows 7 is fully ready, perhaps Win 7 could be a better option. But for now Vista -- in my personal experience and opinion -- definitely better to be out of the consideration; at least for now. My personal view and based on my experience as a user: what is the real benefit of Vista, if our latest netbook computer's performance really suffer? Almost none. It just make the netbook look abit fancier, but awfully slow to even be able do anything really powerful/useful with it.

This is just my personal experience, personal view and observation. In some aspects I could be wrong though. You might have a different view and option. And that's fine and well accepted too. :-)

ps: The new Sony VAIO P Series with XP as the loaded operating system will start be available in Japan on June 6 -- the same day Palm Pre will be released to the marketplace! Two big launch on the 'same' day! What an exciting day!! :-P

Who Says Advertising Had To Be Boring ?? :-P

These 'ads' shows that punchy imaginative interactive add indeed can attract, evoke, provoke, and inspire its audiences, while at the same time help them understand the message, and respect/admire the brand relevance. They ignite with ability to not only convey the message -- but also illustrate the key point of the message -- interactively, communicatively, and brilliantly. :-)

Hopefully as we move into 2009, more and more advertisers around the globe would increasingly stop being boring, stop being unclear, stop being so so, and start being exciting, innovative, and being relevant again.

Cool Infographics

These infographics do one thing perfect: it translate complex verbal information into visual digestable piece. Through reading the combined text and picture, people can grasp the idea better.
This is definitely better than reading 120 pages of manual, which -- essentially -- explain the same thing. :-P

Dinosaur, Dinosaur, The Amazing Dinosaurs!

While waiting for a meeting, I discover these pictures of dinosaurs on the net.
It amazed me to suddenly feel how -- perhaps several years ago -- these ancient dinosaurs might have (instictively and
'accidentally') inspire us all to build and design some of the 'tallest, highest structure on earth' that we have today, and tomorrow.
Our sense of possible balance of weight and height might have come from that.

Improving Posterous -- An Idea To Sachin & Garry ...

Posterous is such a marvelous site! Not only the interface is simple (everybody instinctively understand how to post by sending an email to post@posterous.com), the overall design of the site is also excellent. With that, tremendous number of exciting people -- and exciting content -- resides within posterous.

My suggestion is in regards with ways for us (posterous users) to find, discover, and connect with people (and with exciting content or things) even more. The picture above highlight the core essence of the idea. The text below try to describe the inner detail of how it -- suggestedly -- works:

How about if we add new capabilities within Posterous so that if we like a person's posts, or if we discover a content that interest us alot, posterous can also help us to:

1. Find and discover other-people that have-similar-post and similar-interests with the person (or post-er) that we currently had.
2. Find and discover other posts that has similar-content or similar-context with the posts that we currently read (and really like so much).

To do this, posterous may need to provide somekind of 'category-marking' capabilities in its 'people profile page', so that when people (existing or new posterous member) edit and fill in their profile, they can also specify what kind of content areas (or 'content categories' ??) that they usually post about, and interested in.

This way, when someone searching, subscribing and then discovering a content, they can immediately look up who's the author of that post, subscribe to it, and yet also at the same time can receive suggestion (from posterous) regarding other post-ers or other content with similar area of interests.

With this new capabilities:

  1. People then would be able to 'discover people and things' even more easily (and even more powerfully) within posterous.
  2. People could easily discover content with similar interest as the document that they currently look at (or read in).
  3. People with similar interests could 'suddenly' (or 'increasingly', or 'accidentally) discover each other, forming a great community around 'similar interests' that connects them all together.

Such new capabilities might transform Posterous from a great site that help people posting and sharing their content, into a site that also helps people discover and connects to each other!

  1. Initially, people would benefit, because the process of discovering content and people becomes even easier.
  2. Eventually, this might also perhaps become the strategic differentiator of posterous site, in ways that other blog site never explore in masterful way, before.

When such transformation eventually happen...

posterous might then eventually become not just a great and exciting posting and sharing site, but also -- at the same time -- had a great chance to become a place where people get connected, and amazingly/continuously discover each other.

Above is just draft thought and idea as of now. Hopefully could be useful.

Many thanks again to you, for providing such a splendid environment to post, share and collect collective ideas of ours. The initial work is truly awesome. I sincerely look forward to see the next great evolution of how this great exciting site might evolve uniquely and strategically into the future.

Best regards,
Arvino

Wifi On The Plane!

It was reported that today (Nov 23) Virgin America debuts In-Flight Wi-Fi Service For Beta Test in their airlines.

Virgin will charge $9.95 for a flight of up to three hours. The carrier will charge $12.95 for longer flights. The Wi-Fi Internet access won't be filtered for content or applications. The only restriction with the wireless Internet service is VoIP (voice over Internet protocol).

The service will be provided by Aircell Inc. Aircell has mechansisms to manage the shared in-flight bandwidth. This is needed so one user won't overuse bandwidth. Aircell is also working with other carriers to provide Internet access on planes. The company uses its own national network of 3G (third-generation) base stations on the ground.

Now work, life, 'tv' (youtube), social (facebook) and internet truly could be anywhere, anytime. Even on the plane -- during the flight. Awesome innovation!

Innovation Without Boundaries

Leaders and founders of young, great innovative companies like Sony and Apple never "knew" that a Walkman, or a Handycam, or a Mac, or an iPod is "impossible". Hence they just do. They end up inventing (and discovering) great products that change humankind for the better.

Is This How Brand New Alert Service Will Look Like In the Future??

Serious yet 'friendly', 'comical' and 'fun'. Is this how "alert services" in the future would look like? :-D
metaboinfo.com -- a Japanese website -- has an interesting way to keep people get back in shape through a well controlled diet program. They provide a site that enable people to enter personal information and data, then to choose a 'digital wife' that would everyday monitor and remind the progress of their diet program.

Based on this, the 'virtual wife' will then everyday send email message that remind the person with diet program that they need to do that day, and -- depend on the personality of the 'virtual wife' that you choose, as well as the result of your diet program so far -- this 'virtual wife avatar' can send you a friendly message, an angry message, a polite message, or a rude message. All depends on the 'type' of 'wife' personality that you chose, as well as on how good (or bad) the progress of your scheduled diet program.
