Improving Posterous -- An Idea To Sachin & Garry ...

Posterous is such a marvelous site! Not only the interface is simple (everybody instinctively understand how to post by sending an email to post@posterous.com), the overall design of the site is also excellent. With that, tremendous number of exciting people -- and exciting content -- resides within posterous.

My suggestion is in regards with ways for us (posterous users) to find, discover, and connect with people (and with exciting content or things) even more. The picture above highlight the core essence of the idea. The text below try to describe the inner detail of how it -- suggestedly -- works:

How about if we add new capabilities within Posterous so that if we like a person's posts, or if we discover a content that interest us alot, posterous can also help us to:

1. Find and discover other-people that have-similar-post and similar-interests with the person (or post-er) that we currently had.
2. Find and discover other posts that has similar-content or similar-context with the posts that we currently read (and really like so much).

To do this, posterous may need to provide somekind of 'category-marking' capabilities in its 'people profile page', so that when people (existing or new posterous member) edit and fill in their profile, they can also specify what kind of content areas (or 'content categories' ??) that they usually post about, and interested in.

This way, when someone searching, subscribing and then discovering a content, they can immediately look up who's the author of that post, subscribe to it, and yet also at the same time can receive suggestion (from posterous) regarding other post-ers or other content with similar area of interests.

With this new capabilities:

  1. People then would be able to 'discover people and things' even more easily (and even more powerfully) within posterous.
  2. People could easily discover content with similar interest as the document that they currently look at (or read in).
  3. People with similar interests could 'suddenly' (or 'increasingly', or 'accidentally) discover each other, forming a great community around 'similar interests' that connects them all together.

Such new capabilities might transform Posterous from a great site that help people posting and sharing their content, into a site that also helps people discover and connects to each other!

  1. Initially, people would benefit, because the process of discovering content and people becomes even easier.
  2. Eventually, this might also perhaps become the strategic differentiator of posterous site, in ways that other blog site never explore in masterful way, before.

When such transformation eventually happen...

posterous might then eventually become not just a great and exciting posting and sharing site, but also -- at the same time -- had a great chance to become a place where people get connected, and amazingly/continuously discover each other.

Above is just draft thought and idea as of now. Hopefully could be useful.

Many thanks again to you, for providing such a splendid environment to post, share and collect collective ideas of ours. The initial work is truly awesome. I sincerely look forward to see the next great evolution of how this great exciting site might evolve uniquely and strategically into the future.

Best regards,
Arvino

Is This How Brand New Alert Service Will Look Like In the Future??

Serious yet 'friendly', 'comical' and 'fun'. Is this how "alert services" in the future would look like? :-D
metaboinfo.com -- a Japanese website -- has an interesting way to keep people get back in shape through a well controlled diet program. They provide a site that enable people to enter personal information and data, then to choose a 'digital wife' that would everyday monitor and remind the progress of their diet program.

Based on this, the 'virtual wife' will then everyday send email message that remind the person with diet program that they need to do that day, and -- depend on the personality of the 'virtual wife' that you choose, as well as the result of your diet program so far -- this 'virtual wife avatar' can send you a friendly message, an angry message, a polite message, or a rude message. All depends on the 'type' of 'wife' personality that you chose, as well as on how good (or bad) the progress of your scheduled diet program.
